Legal Background
Mr. Walker began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu and then a Deputy District Attorney for Washington County in Hillsboro, Oregon. Since then, he as defended persons accused of crime for 25 years. Throughout his career he has prosecuted and defended nearly every type of criminal case in State Courts.
During his law school years, the legislatures created new rights for individuals such as the landmark civil rights cases. The courts were active in protecting and defining these rights with the landmark case of Miranda and others wherein the courts required police officers to advise arrested individuals of their rights ("You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can be used against you, etc).
However, since then there has been new legislation and court restrictions and the excitement of those years with the expanding protections has given way to legislatures cutting back on individual rights and Judges narrowing their application.
Today, if you are accused of a crime or the police are investigating you, it is increasingly important to contact an experienced attorney immediately upon becoming aware of the involvement of the police. It is much easier to "head off" a potential charge than to get it dismissed after it has been filed in court. Failing that, the sooner you call your attorney, the more assistance you will get.
Mr. Walker is an experienced and skillful lawyer who can assist you at every step from investigation to negotiations for dismissal, to plea bargains, and to trial. Thoroughness in each of these areas will greatly increase the chances of a favorable outcome.
